Chain of Custody Control
Heavy equipment company Holt Cat manages tens of thousands of tools across multiple repair facilities. Prior to working with OnAsset, the company experienced a loss on average of $10,000 per month, per site due to lost hours spent looking for misplaced tools. Now, using Inventory Control with RFID, Holt Cat knows exactly who is using repair tools and can track the movement of tools between repair facilities. This visibility alone enabled Holt/Cat to see a return on investment in less than seven months. Additional savings were created via better inventory control and a new ability to share high-value tools between facilities, rather than purchase one tool for each. Since outfitting their facilities, Holt/Cat has learned that the need for tool tracking has market opportunity beyond their firm. The company launched its tool tracking solution for commercial service in 2008 and expects approximately $1 million in sales in 2009.
Package Protection
The highest degree of security during the transport of large amounts of money and important financial documents is critical to ensure quality of service for banking customers. That focus is equally critical to OnAsset solutions as we provide the financial industry with in-transit visibility of money bag locations. Our products and services are used to track the location of money and document bags, monitor whether bags have been opened, or closed and sense the motion of the bag to analyze how the bag is being handled. Recovering one lost or stolen bag immediately achieves ROI for our customers. In addition, prevention of theft and proper handling of materials enables our banking customers to further their brand promise and secure high value personal information at all times.
Approximately five percent of all container movements in the world result in loss through theft, damage, or excessive delays. In the industrial container business, problems like these are usually discovered when the unit fails to arrive at the destination or arrives empty. By then, the cargo is lost forever and officials are left wondering where in the supply chain the container was compromised. OnAsset works with customers to create SENTRY-enabled containers that enable global visibility and tracking on land, sea, and air. Our OnAsset platform provides unprecedented value by offering additional visibility into ports worldwide. One successful container recovery, as well as isolating the breakdown in the supply chain, provides our customers with immediate ROI.
Operations Efficiency
Express delivery companies operate thousands of vehicles per day with routes available for travel all over the world. Optimizing this process while making sure consumers have as many convenient locations to drop packages is important for ensuring quality services. OnAsset helps express delivery companies do just this. By placing a SENTRY device inside metal cans and using its sensing technology, express delivery companies are able to determine whether containers are empty or full. This information in turn helps logistics managers create new routes that help drivers avoid traveling to empty drop boxes, saving the delivery company hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost time and travel resources.
Inventory Management and Yard Marshalling
Companies that operate yards for the purpose of maintaining a network of rail cars, engines, heavy equipment, and any vehicle or machinery available for lease can make use of OnAsset technology to optimize operations. All too often assets are lost or misplaced on property. Our clients operate yards with as much as $50 million in inventory available for shipping anywhere in the world. Using Sentry’s enhanced GPS, location of assets can be tracked down to the actual parking space so that operators know exactly where their inventory is at any given time. The benefits of this application enable recovery of lost time searching for assets in the yard, avoiding lost lease opportunities that derive from not knowing the exact availability of assets and better inventory management and performance of personnel on the job.
